The children were located in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and russia. They were rescued as part of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative, initiated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

One of the children who was returned is a 16-year-old girl from the Ivano-Frankivsk region. She moved to live with her father in the Russian Federation in 2021, but after he died in a car accident, she was left alone.

Despite the russian authorities’ efforts to persuade her to stay and take custody of russian citizens, she wanted to return home. Fortunately, she was reunited with her mother.

Two Ukrainian families have also returned from the temporarily occupied left bank of the Kherson region. They’re raising three boys, with the youngest being 10 and the oldest being 17.
