The objective is to ensure the readiness of the military operations in the areas where they are currently ongoing or have been conducted in the past. A key aspect of this is the provision of fuel wood to vulnerable groups of people.
At a meeting on the supply of household fuel in frontline areas chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk, the state of preparation for the new heating season was reported.
UNHCR representatives, Ministry of Ecology officials, State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” staff, the State Forestry Agency, the Shelter and Non-Food Items Cluster in Ukraine (Cluster), the Ukrainian Humanitarian Foundation, and representatives from several regional military administrations presented an update on the current status of efforts to assist during the 2024-2025 heating season.
Preparations for the next heating season are underway. International and civil society organizations are actively engaged in this process, providing support and resources to ensure efficient and safe heating.
“I would like to express my gratitude to all international partners and civil society organizations for their invaluable contribution to supporting the population during the upcoming winter period. Your assistance is of paramount importance to those facing challenging circumstances. Thanks to our collaborative efforts, many people will be able to endure this winter in comfort and security,” the Vice Prime Minister stated.
