President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was in attendance at the event. Other participants included the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk, heads of ministries and agencies, representatives of veterans’ and civil society organizations, diplomats, and other distinguished guests.
The forum provides a platform for discussing veteran policy issues and developing joint solutions to support veterans, their families, and family members of fallen soldiers.
Iryna Vereshchuk participated in the panel discussion, “The State for War Veterans.” She began her remarks by expressing gratitude to the military personnel who have defended Ukrainian territory and safeguarded the lives of Ukrainian citizens.
Vereshchuk emphasized the importance of listening to and supporting our veterans. They represent a significant potential for post-war recovery, with skills and experience that can be leveraged in various sectors, including state and local governments, business development, and more.
The state’s veteran policy should be initiated at the community level. Their experience and best practices should be scaled up to the entire territory of Ukraine.
“Therefore, I urge the participants to provide concrete, well-reasoned proposals that can serve as the foundation for future legislative changes that will facilitate veterans’ reintegration into civilian life,” the Vice Prime Minister emphasized.
At the forum, participants engage in knowledge sharing, problem-solving, and the presentation of new initiatives and projects.
Furthermore, attendees have the chance to view an exhibition of veterans’ stories, a presentation of the work of support specialists, practical psychologists, lawyers, professional adaptation consultants, and more. They can also learn about successful regional projects, veteran business products, and works of veteran art.
