The Lithuanian government has announced its decision to extend temporary protection for a further year, as reported by LRT.
Consequently, residence permits that are currently valid until March 4, 2025, will be extended until March 4, 2026.
The Lithuanian Ministry of the Interior anticipates that the decision taken by the Government will streamline the administrative process, particularly in light of the daily influx of approximately 30-40 new applications for temporary residence permits. Additionally, it is expected to facilitate the replacement of residence permits that are nearing expiration.
As of the end of July, approximately 44,000 individuals had a valid residence permit based on temporary protection.
Earlier, Bulgaria extended its support program for Ukrainian refugees until 2025.
