The second All-Ukrainian Forum of IDP Councils is currently taking place in Kyiv. As part of this event, the constituent documents were signed to establish a new public organization, the Congress of Councils on Internally Displaced Persons.
The Congress of Councils on Internally Displaced Persons was established by regional IDP Councils. The new public organization is open to other levels of IDP Councils.
The primary objective of the Congress is to streamline and align the operations of IDP Councils, while also guaranteeing the representation of the interests of internally displaced persons at the national and international levels.
The primary objectives of the Congress of IDP Councils are as follows:
– The coordination and provision of assistance to IDP Councils.
– The promotion of the rights and interests of IDPs in terms of social protection, housing, and employment, psychosocial, medical, and legal assistance, etc.
– Assist in developing and improving mechanisms for the adaptation and integration of IDPs at the national, regional, and local levels.
– Provide organizational, methodological, and advisory support for relocated enterprises.
– Development of legislative proposals for the protection of the rights and interests of internally displaced persons.
“I am confident in the IDP Councils and therefore encourage all parties to work together. There is a great deal to be done,” said Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.
