The event, entitled “Honor and Respect. The Legacy of Courage 2024,” was organized and chaired by MP Anatoliy Ostapenko.

The event was held to honor the memory of those who have served in Ukraine’s defense forces and to discuss current social support issues for veterans, their families, and the families of fallen soldiers.

Iryna Vereshchuk thanked the organizers and others who care about veterans’ policy and created high-quality veterans’ networks in Ukraine. She said regional authorities play an important role in this.

Resolutions won’t work if those responsible can’t implement them and people don’t feel the result,” she said.

The Vice Prime Minister believes that the optimal demonstration of care for veterans and respect for fallen heroes is through qualitative changes in the country. This entails treating veterans as the primary value of the state and addressing all pertinent issues, including social benefits, prosthetics, rehabilitation, and successful reintegration into civilian life.

In collaboration with the Office of the President, the Parliament, and the Government, we are prepared to consider proposals from regional military administrations, territorial communities, and veteran communities. If the practical cases they propose have proven their effectiveness and require implementation at the state level, we will be pleased and grateful to listen and take them into account,” summarized Iryna Vereshchuk.
