The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on violations in Ukraine has uncovered new evidence of widespread torture of Ukrainian civilians and prisoners of war by russian forces in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and russia. This is outlined in the Commission’s latest report.

It is further noted that as a result of the torture, the victims suffered physical injuries and psychological trauma.

The crimes committed by russia against Ukrainian civilians and prisoners of war are in clear violation of international humanitarian law (IHL).

The Ministry of Reintegration oversees the implementation of international humanitarian law (IHL) within Ukraine and documents instances of non-compliance with IHL. This monitoring is conducted to prompt a response from relevant international organizations and investigative bodies to violations of IHL. This will facilitate the prosecution and punishment of the aggressor state and those involved.
