How IDPs from Melitopol rebuilt their business in Zaporizhzhia

Yevhen and Viktoriia Dolgikh are IDPs from Melitopol. Before the occupation, they owned a chain of bakeries in their hometown. However, due to the occupation, they were forced to leave everything behind and start a new business in Zaporizhzhia.

The first step was to identify opportunities to restore their bakery business. They utilized the support of the state program ‘Grant for Your Own Business’ and the assistance of the Danish Refugee Council.

The funds helped cover the costs of starting the business and installing an autonomous power supply system to make it operational. The entire team of the bakery comprises internally displaced persons (IDPs), and the products are made according to original recipes.

The family is currently pursuing an expansion strategy, with plans to open new outlets in the city.
