A forum to discuss issues of support for people with disabilities will be held in the capital on 8 and 9 October. The event is being organized with the support of the World Health Organization.
The forum will be attended by representatives of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine, the Office of the President, the European Disability Forum for Eastern and Central Europe, UN clusters and agencies, state and local authorities, NGOs, and persons with disabilities. In particular, IDPs and veterans with disabilities, parents of children with disabilities, and heads of organizations representing them will be present.
Thematic discussions will center on the protection of the rights of people with disabilities and the elderly, as well as their recovery and rehabilitation.
The forum program will also include a discussion of humanitarian response in the areas of barrier-free access, employment, and the employment of persons with disabilities.
At the opening of the forum, Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, extended a warm welcome to all participants.
Humanitarian response must be inclusive. This is particularly relevant during periods of conflict. I would like to express my gratitude to the public organizations representing people with disabilities. “They assist the authorities in hearing the voices of our people with special needs,” said Iryna Vereshchuk.
