The UN says at least 208 Ukrainian civilians were killed in September by russian attacks

The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission has documented the highest number of civilian casualties (deceased and injured) resulting from russian shelling of Ukraine in 2024.

In September, the monthly UN report indicates that at least 208 civilians were killed and another 1,220 were injured by russian forces.

Many casualties were caused by:

– Missile strikes across the country.

– Air strikes with bombs in cities like Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia.

– UAV attacks near the front line, in the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Kherson region.

The organization said that 46% of the killed Ukrainians were over 60. In September, 9 children were killed and 76 were injured.

Since July 2024, the number of victims has been going up. At least 219 civilians were killed and another 1,018 were injured.
