This is the first World Bank Mission for the implementation of the project "The Eastern Ukraine: Reconnect, Recover, Revitalize" (3R).
Its objective is to verify the status of implementation of the project plan, which was launched in January of this year, and to consolidate the work plan for the near future. "This project provides for the attraction of investments for recovery of the agriculture sector in Luhansk oblast, in the Government-controlled area of Ukraine, which was adversely affected as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. This project is for people who see the potential in the agriculture sector of the Ukrainian East, for those who are ready to recover the destroyed and revive the region," said Rostyslav Zamlynskyi, First Deputy Minister for Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories of Ukraine during the online meeting of the Mission.
In addition to the leadership of the Ministry for Reintegration of TOT, there were other parties engaged in the meeting, inter alia: representatives of the World Bank, the project implementation team from the Ministry and the State Road Agency of Ukraine, representatives of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Luhansk Regional State Administration - Civil-Military Administration, as well as the Starobilsk amalgamated territorial community of Luhansk oblast.
"This is the first Mission in support of the project. Our task is to discuss issues that currently require the attention of the Ukrainian government or the World Bank. That is, to see where we are now and agree on the next steps to accelerate progress of its implementation. Such Missions will take place twice a year," noted Erik Johnson, Senior Operations Officer at the World Bank during the first meeting.
The work of the Mission will last till June 9th, 2021.
Within the framework of the project "The Eastern Ukraine: Reconnect, Recover, Revitalize" (3R), it is planned to establish a modern agro-logistic hub in Starobilsk district of Luhansk oblast and launch the construction of a laboratory for quality control of agricultural products in this region, in the Government-controlled area of Ukraine.
Let us recall that Ukraine and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the World Bank) signed a USD 100 million loan agreement for the implementation of the project "The Eastern Ukraine: Reconnect, Recover, Revitalize" (3R).
The objectives of the project are to improve transport connection and support the recovery of the agriculture sector in the areas of project implementation with active community participation, affected by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
