The pilot project will be implemented in four regions: Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Lviv, and Mykolaiv.

This was discussed at a meeting of the Coordination Center for Ensuring the Rights and Freedoms of Internally Displaced Persons, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

Representatives of the Ministry of Reintegration, Ministry of Veterans, Ministry of Social Policy, Ministry of Finance, and regional military administrations attended the event.

The meeting participants discussed, among other things, the status of implementing the Cabinet of Ministers’ decision on a pilot project to introduce the institution of a veterans’ assistant in the system of transition from military service to civilian life.

These are specialists who will help Ukrainian defenders adjust to civilian life after returning from the front, on a peer-to-peer basis, giving priority to people with similar life experiences.

Future Veteran Assistants will be trained at Veteran Development Centers at designated higher education institutions. One such center has already been opened in Dnipro at the University of Customs and Finance. Specialized training programs to support veterans and their families have also been developed.
