Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said this in an interview with the Czech TV channel ČT24. She thanked the friendly Czech people, the president, and the government of this country for their help and support to Ukraine.

The Vice Prime Minister drew a historical parallel between the war of aggression waged by Russia against our country and Hitler’s occupation of the Sudetenland, a part of the Czechoslovak Republic, in 1938.

She reminded us that Hitler annexed the Sudetenland, explaining that it was to protect the Germans living in the region. This situation is similar to the beginning of the war in Donbas in 2014. In this case, both Hitler’s territorial expansion and putin’s aggression took place despite the signed treaties guaranteeing security.

“Czechs remember this part of their history well. That is why they help Ukrainians in difficult times. And we are very grateful to them. This example clearly shows that putin is a modern Hitler. But the war with Ukraine will come back to him as a boomerang of retaliation. The countries of Europe and the whole free world should support us in sanctions mechanisms and in bringing russia to justice,” Iryna Vereshchuk summed up.
