From January to November 2023, the National Information Bureau’s (NIB) 24/7 hotline, 16-48, received 118,964 calls.
The NIB received many inquiries from citizens, with the most common questions being about:
– Submit applications to search for missing persons;
– Clarify the data in the NIB registers;
– Requests for information regarding the captivity of military personnel;
– Rules for writing letters to prisoners of war.
The NIB follows the Geneva Conventions for the Treatment of Prisoners of War and the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.
The Bureau collects information on prisoners of war and missing persons. Additionally, the NIB receives data on individuals, including children, who have been deported or forcibly displaced due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
The National Information Bureau was founded on March 17, 2022. Since then, the NIB hotline (16-48) has received 359,312 calls.
