The Swiss Federal Council has decided to allocate an extra 11.8 million Swiss francs (over $13.6 million) to assist the population during the winter. The Swiss government website reports.
These funds will support multiple non-governmental organizations that assist Ukrainians.
The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation will increase its support for the UN Humanitarian Fund’s assistance program in Ukraine by 1.8 million CHF. The funds will be used for heating, winter clothing, rental support, and housing insulation.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees will receive 3 million CHF (almost $3.5 million) to support the winter assistance program. The funds will aid internally displaced persons and people living in war-affected areas.
The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs is allocating 10 million CHF (about $11.6 million) through the European Community Energy Support Fund to repair damaged energy infrastructure.
Switzerland has allocated approximately $30 million (26 million CHF) to assist Ukrainians this winter.
