During the plenary debate in the European Parliament, they discussed the illegal export of Ukrainian children to russia and ways to solve this issue, as DW reports. 

Lithuanian MP Rasa Juknevičienė, on behalf of the largest European People’s Party in the European Parliament, urged the EU to denounce russia’s actions and acknowledge them as a part of a genocide policy against the Ukrainian people.

The parliamentarians suggest that Brussels establish a special working group to assist Ukraine in locating, recovering, and rehabilitating children and provide sustainable and substantial funding for this effort. Additionally, the EU should continue to support charitable organizations in Ukraine.

Dutch MP Catharina Rinzema believes that russian families who take in minors taken from Ukraine should face penalties.

Miapetra Kumpula-Natri, the Finnish representative who leads the sanctions monitoring group, announced the compilation of a 700-page list of russian individuals and legal entities involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children.

In her opinion, the EU should establish rehabilitation centers for Ukrainian children and their families who have returned from russia. Additionally, EU officials should raise the issue of abducted Ukrainian children at all international forums.

The EU-supported initiatives, such as the Bring Kids Back UA project and the newly formed International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, were underlined by Dubravka Šuica, Vice President of the European Commission.
