The results of the third wave of the survey conducted by the sociological company Gradus Research as part of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program ‘How Are You?’ initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska show this.
44% of respondents believe that mental health receives more attention in the news these days. 35% have started discussing it more in their environment, and 28% in their families.
75% of respondents believe that mental health needs more coverage.
Generally, Ukrainians rate their mental state as average. This percentage has remained stable at around 50-51% for the past year and a half.
Respondents use the Internet (39%), watch movies and TV shows (34%), and talk to friends and family (32%) to cope with nervousness or stress.
Among Ukrainians, psychologists and psychotherapists (24%), family doctors (16%), and psychiatrists (15%) are the most trusted when it comes to mental health.
Additionally, 27% of the respondents believe that the public’s attitude towards mental health has become more positive. Simultaneously, 25% are convinced that attitudes towards people with mental health problems have improved.
To improve mental health, respondents suggested implementing measures such as self-help and first-aid training (44%) and improving access to mental health services (49%).
