In an interview with Polish journalists, Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk stated that joint efforts between Ukraine and Poland could accelerate Ukraine’s movement towards the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union.  

“Today, Ukraine defends Poland against the advancing horde, while Poland guides Ukraine towards the EU and NATO,” the official added.

Poland first joined NATO and then the European Union. This experience can be useful for us.

Iryna Vereshchuk provided an example of the European College in Natolin’s activities. The institution is a leader in academic research on EU policy in Central and Eastern Europe. It trains personnel for the European integration of the region’s countries. Ukrainian citizens are among the students enrolled in this program.

Ms. Ewa Osnicka-Tamecka, the vice-rector of the educational institution, was a minister during Poland’s accession to the European Union.

“As a state, we can benefit greatly from such a program and the invaluable experience it can provide,” explained Iryna Vereshchuk.

“Joining NATO will benefit all members of the Alliance. Our presence in this bloc will add to the common experience and be mutually beneficial,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
