The matter was addressed at a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for the Protection of Children’s Rights under Martial Law, chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

By the instructions of the Vice Prime Minister, a monitoring visit to Romania was conducted with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Social Policy, the National Social Service, the Ombudsman, the Odesa, and Dnipro Regional Administrations. Heads of institutions, and members of Parliament.

The visit, which took place from April 29 to May 4, was conducted to assess the living conditions of children evacuated to Romania as part of institutions.

We visited five institutions with 140 children—114 children from four institutions in Odesa and 26 from one in Dnepropetrovsk.

The monitoring group said the children were kept in good condition.

They also took care, of their needs. This included getting passports, ID cards, and confirming disabilities.

We must resolve this issue. “Our children require the right documents,” the Vice Prime Minister said.

Iryna Vereshchuk told the Odesa Regional Military District Administration to help the children’s legal representatives get the documents they need for the Ukrainian Embassy in Romania.

The Vice Prime Minister proposed new legislation to allow children with status to get free passports to travel abroad.
