Orphans and children without parents who are temporarily in Ukraine can get a passport for traveling abroad without paying for automated data processing.

The amendments to the procedures approved by the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolutions No. 152 of May 7, 2014, and No. 285 of April 5, 2017, which were adopted by the Government today, are in line with the envisaged changes. The relevant draft act was developed by the Ministry of Social Policy.

This matter was discussed at meetings of the Coordination Headquarters for the Protection of Children’s Rights under Martial Law, chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

It has been confirmed that, at present, the consular fee for status children is not charged when a passport is issued for travel abroad at foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine.

It should be noted that while the service was not entirely free, a fee was charged for automated data processing when an application for such a passport was submitted.

Now, legal representatives of orphans and children deprived of parental care can get their passports for traveling abroad without paying for automated data processing.

The act helps protect the rights of children who are temporarily living abroad.
