In the interview with the French newspaper Liberation, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk spoke about the manipulations of the occupier, trying to disrupt the evacuation of civilians in Ukrainian cities and villages, which came under destructive fire from the aggressor. The situation around Mariupol remains particularly horrible.
«Today, the entire world community is observing the expansionist war in Ukraine and the criminal violation of international humanitarian law. The worst situation is between Mariupol and Zaporihzhia. There, russia regularly opens fire on humanitarian corridors, in particular, on the convoys themselves» – said the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine.
At the same time, she praised the efforts of French President Emmanuel Macron to influence the russian president to establish a humanitarian corridor from Mariupol.
«Emmanuel Macron has specifically asked Vladimir Putin to open this corridor. But Putin has shown considerable cynicism. He accepted Macron’s request, but offered a humanitarian corridor … to russian territory – Irina Vereshchuk commented. – He openly ridicules the international community».
