Iryna Vereshchuk: “Almost 1,500 people were evacuated with three humanitarian corridors today”

This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk at the final briefing in the office of the President of Ukraine on March 31, 2022.

She clarified that the evacuation took place to Zaporizhzhia on the  own transport.

631 people left Mariupol and 827 residents of Zaporizhzhia region: Berdyansk, Melitopol, Energodar, Pologi, Orikhiv, Gulyaypole and Vasylivka.

“Today, 45 buses arrived in Berdyansk for evacuation – the Deputy Prime Minister added. – But the occupiers did not let them enter into the city. 600 people got on buses from the city and have to leave for Zaporizhzhia tomorrow morning. More than 30 buses remain at the entrance to Berdyansk to pick up Mariupol and Berdyansk residents in Zaporizhzhia in the morning”.

According to Iryna Vereshchuk, 12 buses for evacuation of people, loaded with humanitarian aid, arrived from Melitopol today. Unfortunately, it was taken away by the occupiers. This is 14 tons of food and medicine.

“This is the price of agreements and guarantees of the International Committee of the Red Cross on the corridors that supposedly have to work! We are currently negotiating that the buses be returned and the residents of Melitopol can travel to Zaporizhia tomorrow” – Iryna Vereshchuk said.

She also said that today 50 private cars with passengers and a bus with children left the city of Energodar. They passed all the checkpoints and are now in Zaporizhzhia.

“Tomorrow we will continue to work on the humanitarian corridor to Mariupol and will not leave our people alone. We will persistently pave the way to our joint Victory with you!” – the official promised.
