The Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk announced the another exchange of prisoners on her Telegram channel. She clarified that according to the order of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the another, fourth exchange of prisoners of war took place.

“5 officers and 17 servicemen were exchanged” – she wrote. – 8 civilians, including 1 woman, were also released. In total, 30 of our citizens are going home today”.

The exchange takes place for the implemantation of the order of the President of Ukraine, within the activities of the National Information Bureau (NIB).

It will be recalled that the NIB was created to fulfill Ukraine’s obligations to comply with the provisions of international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War of August 12, 1949. The main goal of the NIB is to collect, centralize and summarize information on prisoners of war and killed combatants on both sides and to collect information on citizens of Ukraine who suffered as a result of armed aggression: detained civilians, missing persons, forcibly displaced (deported), etc.

The NIB organizes the centralized transfer of information on the capture of Russian combatants to the Central Investigation Agency (CIA) of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which acts as a neutral mediator. It is also possible to initiate through the CIA NIB search and collection of information about detained Ukrainian citizens in Russia.
