Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk chaired a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters to ensure the departure of Ukrainian citizens from the TOT.
They discussed the problems of issuing or restoring passports to citizens leaving the temporarily occupied territories.
In particular, the issuance of the first passport of a citizen of Ukraine to children who have reached the age of 14 while living in the TOT. The State Migration Service of Ukraine provided clarification on this issue.
Therefore, a person who has reached the age of 14 must apply to any territorial unit of the SMS and provide the following documents.
- A birth certificate or extract from the state registry office (if available). The State Migration Service will verify the information if a document is missing.
- Passports of the parents or one of them (to verify the citizenship of Ukraine). If a person does not have relations with his or her parents or cannot provide them due to martial law, it is sufficient to provide information about such documents.
- A certificate of registration as a citizen of Ukraine is required if one of the parents is a foreigner or a stateless person.
- The registration number of the taxpayer’s account card (taxpayer’s account card registration number) may also be submitted, if available.
In the absence of original documents confirming the citizenship and identity of the parents (or one of them), the applicant may submit copies of such documents or information (personal data) of the parents (or one of them).
The State Migration Service also noted that submitting copies of the above documents is not a prerequisite for accepting the applicant’s documents for issuing a passport and cannot be a reason for refusing to issue a document.
