The meeting was chaired by Andriy Yermak, Head of the Presidential Administration, with the participation of Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk, and other government members. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, heads of civil-military administrations, representatives of local self-government, and international partners were also present.
The event was held in a new format of direct communication with representatives of local communities in the regions of Ukraine, the first of which was Kherson.
The participants discussed the issues of elimination of the consequences of the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, the environmental situation, and the restoration of water supply and infrastructure in the de-occupied territories.
Among other things, it included financial assistance from the state of 5 thousand UAH per person to victims of floods. As of August 28, 2023, such assistance has already been paid in Kherson region amounting to over 61 million UAH. In addition, applications are being accepted for one-time financial assistance to the affected population for lost crops. 212.2 million UAH have been allocated for this purpose from the state budget reserve fund.
We discussed with local business representatives, agronomists, and farmers the importance of affordable loans and easier credit conditions in the de-occupied territories, as well as preferential lending to agricultural enterprises.
The meeting also discussed the status of providing teachers and children with laptops needed for online learning.
The participants of the event were informed about the work of the Center for Internally Displaced Persons from Kherson region, which operates in Odessa region. They also discussed the issue of employment support for IDPs from Kherson region.
