The hotline of the Ministry of Reintegration receives complaints about the seizure of IDPs’ bank accounts by state and private law enforcement officials.  This includes funds received by IDPs as social assistance from the state and international organizations.

This issue was discussed at the meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for Ensuring the Realization of Rights and Freedoms of Internally Displaced Persons, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

Representatives of the Ministry of Reintegration, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oshchadbank, PrivatBank, regional military administrations, other agencies, and organizations, as well as the co-chairman of the interactional association “IDPs of Ukraine”, MP Ruslan Horbenko, took part in the event.

During the meeting, Iryna Vereshchuk reminded that the Ministry of Reintegration has developed a draft law and submitted it to the Parliament.

It proposes to prohibit the seizure and recovery of funds received by IDPs as targeted financial assistance from international organizations and government housing assistance.

“These are the funds that the state, as well as charitable foundations and international organizations, allocate to support our internally displaced persons. And we cannot allow the IDPs to be deprived of this financial support. Even if they are in debt. Because very often it is the only money they have,” the official emphasized.

During the discussion, MP Ruslan Horbenko assured that the interfactional association “IDPs of Ukraine” will accelerate the settlement of this issue at the legislative level.
