Compensation funding for September 2023 has started under the Shelter project. It’s about paying homeowners back for the cost of providing free shelter to IDPs.

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) allocated nearly 30 million UAH in the first tranche on November 21. The money will be transferred to homeowners in 13 regions (Volyn, Vinnytsia, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kherson, Chernihiv, Chernivtsi) and the city of Kyiv. The URCS plans to fund payments in the remaining regions soon.

The “Shelter” program compensates about UAH 450 per month (UAH 14.77 per day) for the utility costs of one IDP who receives free accommodation.

To participate in this program, you must register on the “Shelter”  website and place an ad for temporary housing for internally displaced persons.

The Ministry of Reintegration is responsible for the “Shelter” project.
