The UN Office in Ukraine has announced that the presentation of the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan for Ukraine and the Regional Response Plan for Asylum Seekers from Ukraine for 2024 will take place on January 15 in Geneva.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will jointly present these plans.

The UN reports that russia’s full-scale invasion has caused approximately 6.3 million Ukrainians to flee their country.

Additionally, because of the war, over 14.6 million individuals in Ukraine, which is approximately 40% of the population, will require humanitarian aid in 2024.

The event will include a panel discussion on both plans. UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs/Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, Humanitarian Coordinator for Ukraine Denise Brown, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk, and representatives of non-governmental organizations will participate.
