Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk expressed this position during a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for the Protection of Children’s Rights under Martial Law.
Currently, when issuing a passport for a Ukrainian citizen to travel abroad, including replacing a lost or stolen passport, no consular fee is charged for dependent children.
The service is not entirely free. When applying for such a passport, a fee for automated data processing is charged.
The Vice Prime Minister emphasized that issuing passports outside of Ukraine is one of many problems.
“This includes children temporarily residing abroad and those staying in Ukraine. We have to help all orphans and children deprived of parental care to get the appropriate passports free of charge,” said Iryna Vereshchuk.
Thus, the responsible agencies were instructed to study this issue and propose ways to resolve it.
