During a live broadcast on ICTV, Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk explained that transferring such premises to communities could provide housing for IDPs.

Recently, many educational institutions have been optimized, including schools, colleges, and higher education institutions. As a result, some of their premises have become available for conversion into housing for IDPs.

During a recent meeting with the Ministry of Education, the issue was raised and they were instructed to submit relevant proposals.

The transfer of three student dormitories in Drohobych to communal ownership would allow the city council to allocate funds for their repair. This would provide housing for almost a thousand internally displaced persons. Currently, there are almost 13,000 internally displaced persons in the city.

Iryna Vereshchuk summarized “The territorial communities are requesting that the purpose of these buildings be changed and that they be transferred for use. This could be a potential solution to the problem of housing for IDPs.”
